Week 1
I have been thinking about a range of topics. Ms Woud got us to pick our favourite topic out of 5. I’m looking at animals as a topic but I also like the idea of researching a country, preferably in Europe. I would prefer my topic to benefit either me or someone/something else, this is why I’m considering fundraising for an animal organisation or shelter.
Week 2
7/2/12
So I’ve finally decided to do my research on Animal Shelters. It’s not a fundraiser but I decided if I wanted I could include a mini fundraiser later on. I want to find out as much as possible about animal shelters and the importance of adopting animals from shelters as well as donating to the shelters. I’m happy about this project; I think I can get a lot out of it. Our teacher got us to find one article related to our topic and high light it. We are starting to write our proposals this week.
(I finally got Wikispaces working).
Week 3
14/2/12
The past few days I have been looking at websites of animal shelters as well as articles. I've saved a whole lot of URL's which had sites and articles and I will look through all of them and highlight and summarise. I've begun my proposal, which is due Monday so i'll definitely get that done soon.
Week 4
21/2/12
Now that I have completed and handed up my proposal. My aim for the end of this week is to have read, highlighted and summarised at least 3 articles. I need to get my interview questions approved soon by the teacher. I think I could start with developing some survey questions too. I also plan to visit the Hahndorf Animal Shelter some time in the next few weeks.
Week 5
1/3/12
I've been finding more articles and useful websites. I've written out survey questions and got them checked but I need to add more questions and change a few.
Week 6
9/3/12
I've been pretty busy with sports day and music excersions, I'm missing quite a bit off of school but i have been doing research at home.
I showed the teacher my survey questions which were approved.
Week 7
I put my survey on the internet and so far quite a lot of people have done it which is good. I need to prepare for my discussion with the teacher.
Week 8
I decided to do a written discussion which I've handed up now. I haven't had been able to do a lot of research lately as the teacher was away and then I was away and decided to focus those times on other work which was due.
Week 9
27/3/12
I have started writing up an outline for my outcome draft. Our teacher explained that it doesnt have to be put together into a full outcome yet, its only an outline. I found some more information on the RPSCA. I've also got the forms so I can get permission to borrow a recorder over the holidays.
Things I need to do before the holidays:
- Outline of outcome
-Get all of my forms signed.
-Fix up my interview questions
Week 10
3/4/12
We handed up our outline of our outcome which was just a sheet thats described briefly our plan for our outcomes. Over the holidays I have to work on my outcome a lot. I've got some examples of other pamphlets/brochures and printed them out to look at. By the first day back our teacher needs to see how much we have done of our outcome. I handed in all of my forms which were signed and I got an audio recorder from the library to borrow over the holidays so that I can record interviews. Interviews will need to be done at start of holidays so that I can start working on my outcome properly through out the holidays.
Week 11
12/4/12
I've started my outcome now which is a pamhplet using the program Publisher. I have mostly just planned which information I will use and which page of the pamphlet it will go on. I've been looking up a few more sites. I found a section on the RSPCA site which answered almost half of my interview questions which is useful.
Week 12
21/4/12
I've been editing my interview questions as a few changes needed to be made. I also called Animal Welfare League but they put me through to an answering machine where I told about my project and left my name and number. I also emailed the RSPCA requesting an interview via email, as half of the interview questions were already answered by the site.
Week 13
25/4/12
I called Hahndorf Interim Animal Shelter and requested an interview, they seemed pleased to help me out and told me to come in on Saturday when they open at 12.30pm!
Week 14
1/5/12
This week i've been working on my outcome and it is nearly finished. I'm aiming to hand it up as a draft by the end of this week and recieve it back with feedback early next week. I am going to Mount Gambier for music this weekend and will be away from Friday to Monday. Also, my interview went well, i'm really glad I got that oppurtunity and it is helping my outcome as well. I took plenty of pictures!
Week 15
8/5/12
put in my outcome draft for feedback.
Week 16
14/5/12
Outcome and 10 pages of folio are due this Friday. I just received feedback on my outcome. I am working on the 10 pages and fixing up my outcome.
